This website is the product of a research project I started years ago. As an aspiring potter, I had an intense curiosity to find out what other potters were making, what kind of shapes, colors, materials, techniques, etc. they were using or experimenting with. So, I decided to collect images of handmade ceramic objects and to maintain a database of these images. When the collection had grown to over 5,000 pieces, I created this website and put the entire collection on the internet.

The collection is intentionally more a reflection of the wide diversity of pots I found rather than their beauty. Although there are many beautiful pots shown here, there are also a few pieces that are not particularly attractive! They are only included because they are unique in some way (or to show how crazy potters are!).

This website is intended as a resource and source of inspiration for potters, art students and all others wishing to broaden their horizons in the world of ceramics. I hope it proves to be a valuable educational tool for all.

I will maintain the collection at about 5,000 photos, add other resources and tweak the format as I go. Although there are thousands of images, navigation should be easy. Click on any image and click on PLAY to start the slideshow.
